I’ll be honest with you here. I never thought anyone could make more than a little play money working any business with home parties.
I was wrong! Hooray!!!
I started doing Norwex parties just because the Enviro cloth knocked my socks with what it could do on the greasy walls around my stove. I decided everyone needed to know about this magical new way to clean!
I had been searching for alternatives to cleaning chemicals based on my research into suspected causes of auto-immune diseases like lupus, celiac disease, type 1 diabetes, and asthma. (We have a little bit of everything in our family and I wanted to know how to give my kids the best shot possible at avoiding them!) But the natural cleaners I had tried were a lot more work. And like any busy mom, I’d rather things be quick! So when I scrubbed every nook and cranny of my kitchen that night (WAY out of character for me) because it was so unbelievably easy, I knew I had to share.
Because of the growing awareness of the dangers of chemicals, and because I discovered I love mentoring others to succeed beyond their wildest dreams, after three years in business I had passed up my pre-mom full-time income as an E-Learning Consultant.
Do you wish you could test-drive a business like this with no risk and no obligation? Your wish is granted! In September only, Norwex is offering a Join For Free special. As I was following a rabbit trail on Pinterest (don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about!) I came across this article on how to clean your mattress.
Now I completely agree about our pillows and mattresses being “the ideal breeding ground for bacteria and dust mites.” But thank goodness there’s an easier way than dragging it outside and beating on it!
Norwex Mattress Cleaner is an enzyme spray that “digests” the allergens in our beds, just like enzymes in our body digest our food. Dead skin cells are what dust mites eat. You probably didn’t WANT to know that you shed enough skin cells every day to feed a million dust mites. But the most harmful allergen found in our beds is the, uh, after-effect of dust mites eating. You know, their poop! Did you know that’s mostly what we react to when we’re allergic to dust mites?
Preventing dust mites is tricky. Lots of us have tried special covers on our pillows and mattresses, but the New York Times reported a study showing that those aren’t as effective as we would like.
Norwex Mattress cleaner is NOT a pesticide. It’s not a chemical that kills anything. Because we wouldn’t want to breathe in a toxic chemical all night any more than we want to breathe in dust mite poop! It simply works its way through your mattress “eating” away the allergens, converting them to carbon dioxide and water.
It’s not just for mattresses! Spray on pillows, comforters, stuffed animals, upholstered furniture, vehicle seats, and pet beds.
A light mist will do it – about two sprays per pillow, and 12-15 sprays on a king-size bed. Allow to dry before putting on clean sheets. For severe allergies, spray once a month. Otherwise every 3-4 months is fine. So one bottle lasts a year or more!
The most amazing testimonials I’ve received from my Norwex customers are about this product. Husbands who’ve stopped snoring, kids who’ve stopped coughing at night, moms who are able to wear contacts because their eyes aren’t dry and itchy, people who don’t sneeze multiple times every morning anymore. I personally ALWAYS travel with a samples-size spray bottle of mattress cleaner for hotel room beds! Who do you know who needs some desperately?

The ice bucket challenge has done a great job of raising awareness about ALS. So when I was nominated for the challenge, I figured one more video of someone dumping ice water on her head might not accomplish much. Instead, I started researching more about the suspected causes of ALS at places like the National Institute of Health and Mayo Clinic.
What I found was similar to when I was researching causes of Auto-immune disorders – our bodies are simply being exposed to too many toxic chemicals in our every day lives, and it can cause things to go haywire inside.
So here’s my version of the challenge, switching gears to start focusing on what we can do to PREVENT diseases like this. My number one tip for reducing toxins in your world is to stop using dryer sheets! Here are 7 reasons why.
What’s your top tip for reducing toxins?

One of the healthiest things you can do for your family is eat fresh vegetables and fruit. So don’t you wish there was an alternative to those plastic produce bags? They’re really hard to re-use because they’re so thin, which makes them single-use-and-to-the-landfill plastic. Ugh.
Eco-friendly shoppers have gone to great lengths to find alternatives. But you know me, I want it both easy AND green!
So I am SO excited about the brand new Norwex Reusable Produce Bags! They’re so EASY to use! Durable (strong mesh polyester weave), washable, and of course BPA-free, Phthalate-free, and lead-free.
- Scan and weigh produce inside the bags
- Wash, rinse and store right in the bag!
You’ll not only need a set for your own house, but what an amazing teacher gift, hostess gift, or housewarming gift!
If our family uses these bags once a week, we’ll save 150 plastic produce bags a year. Last year in the US, 1,440,000 homes purchased Norwex products. If all of those homes switch to reusable produce bags, we will use 216 MILLION fewer plastic produce bags in one year!!
Won’t our oceans be happy?

Carpooling to the Norwex national conference is as good an excuse as any to get the car cleaned up inside and out! My children helped because they like being a part of my success. (And I rewarded them with a trip to the donut shop…)
Our only tools were a handheld vacuum and the Norwex basic cloths with water!
Windows so clear you think you’re in a convertible? Norwex Enviro cloth and water to clean and Window Cloth to polish!
Cleaning up the dashboard? Norwex Enviro cloth and water.
Stains on the seats? Norwex Enviro cloth and water.
Old, dried strawberry smoothie that I didn’t know had spilled on the floor in the back seat? You guessed it! Norwex Enviro cloth and water. Can you believe it??
Seriously miraculous! Yes of course I’m happy we didn’t have to use any chemicals, but the bottom line is, it was so EASY!
For the outside, I could have gotten out the hose and my Norwex car wash mitt but instead I chose to drive through a gas station car wash, use the cheapest wash, drive home and then polish it with the Norwex car cloth. Gorgeously shiny, streak-free, and because I removed all soap residue with the car cloth, dust won’t stick to it so it will stay cleaner longer!
I’ve even heard customers say they’ve washed their car in the garage in the middle of winter with just a bucket of water, the Norwex car wash mitt, and a car cloth. Because you’re not using any soap, you don’t need to rinse with a hose, and it dries so quickly with the car cloth.
Do you love having a clean car?

Yes, working at home has a downside. Work is always there. Like, for example, it’s 11:45 pm on a Tuesday evening and I’m in my office at my computer. But I’m in charge! No one is making me work. I’m having fun! I’m setting goals and hitting them out of the park!
And look who my work companions are:
Meet our two rescue babies. Zelda loves to sit under my desk. (She doesn’t seem to mind that I stretch without remembering she’s there and bump her occasionally.) And Sarah is tucked in right next to my chair. Our vet’s best guess is that these two were breeders in a puppy mill before they were rescued, so they needed lots of extra time and attention when we first got them. And because I work from home, I was able to give that to them!
Here they are the day we brought them home from the shelter:
